Tadcaster Community Swimming Pool
17.28kWp
Tadcaster community-run swimming pool is a valued asset for local residents, providing a safe and enjoyable environment for families and individuals of all ages. However, the increasing energy costs and the environmental impact associated with traditional energy sources prompted their trust members to explore renewable solutions. After investigating their options, they asked for a design and quotation for Solar PV.
Limitations were placed on the available roof space where the solar PV system could be located due to a covenant meaning that it should not be seen by the public, so Associated Clean Technologies used their expertise to survey the site using drone imagery and designed a system consisting of 32 panels with a total capacity of 17.28kWp. This was strategically installed using a bespoke mounting system on the rooftop of the swimming pool standing seam roof.
The system is comprised of 32x 540w JA Solar panels, 32x P850 SolarEdge Optimisers and a 16kW SolarEdge Inverter.
Since the installation in March 2023, the system has produced 8.07MWh of energy allowing the trust to harness clean energy to contribute to powering the pool's pumps, lighting, and other essential systems. Tadcaster Community Swimming Pool have made their data available to the public on the SolarEdge data Monitoring system.
After the estimated 5-year payback period for the system the trust will be able to allocate savings on their energy costs to other community programs and initiatives.
